Planned events (قرار است که)

To talk about what is planned or supposed to happen, use the impersonal phrase قرار است (literally, "the arrangement is") followed by که (that). Because these events are anticipated plans rather than completed facts, the main verb describing the action must be in the present subjunctive.

قرار است is impersonal and never changes form. Only the subjunctive verb at the end of the sentence is conjugated to match the person doing the action.

Passive Plans

You can pair قرار است with passive verbs like انجام شدن (to be done) to talk about scheduled tasks without specifying who will do them.

Similar Structures

Like شاید (might) and باید (must), قرار است expresses expectation and triggers the present subjunctive.

In Spoken Persian

When speaking casually, Iranians typically blend قرار است into a single word: قراره. The subjunctive grammar rule remains exactly the same.
