When dividing equity among startup partners or pitching to investors, you will need to talk about fractions of shares.
Forming Fractions
To form a fraction in Farsi, state the numerator as a standard cardinal number (one, two, three) followed by the denominator as an ordinal number ending in -م (third, fourth, fifth).
- One third: یک سوم
- Two fifths: دو پنجم
| The founders divided one third of the startup's shares. | بنیانگذاران یک سوم سهام استارتاپ را تقسیم کردند.bonyân-gozârân yek sevvom sahâm estârtâp râ taqsim kardand. |

Majority and Minority Ownership
When one party holds the largest portion of the shares, use the word for majority (اکثریت). Remaining partners or smaller investors hold a minority (اقلیت) stake.
| The company's founder has the majority of the ownership. | بنیانگذار شرکت اکثریت مالکیت را دارد.bonyân-gozâr-e sherkat aksariyyat-e mâlekiyyat râ dârad. |

Negotiating Fractions
This pattern works for any fraction, like three fourths (سه چهارم), which is useful when partners negotiate (مذاکره کردن) ownership.

With this simple formula, you can express any equity split, such as four fifths (چهار پنجم) or two thirds (دو سوم).
