Food and free time

The Iranian Table

No Iranian meal is complete without سبزی — fresh greens and herbs served alongside the food — and a bowl of ماست (yogurt). کباب is the national dish, and شکلات needs no introduction. The گاو (cow) is where the شیر comes from.

The Free Hours

The noun دوش (shower) pairs with the taught دوش گرفتن. شنا (swimming) and رقص (dance) name the activities whose verbs you meet as شنا کردن and the taught رقصیدن — Persian often prefers the noun + light verb. A good آهنگ (song) rounds out the evening; آهنگ is one song, موسیقی the art itself.
