Questions & Answers about Het algoritme imiteert menselijk gedrag.
Why does the adjective not have an -e ending (menselijk instead of menselijke)?
Because gedrag is a neuter (het) noun. When a neuter noun is used indefinitely—meaning it has een or, as in this uncountable case, no article at all before it—the adjective drops the -e ending. This is a common rule that is easy to forget when dealing with uncountable nouns.
If I wanted to say 'The algorithm makes humans imitate behaviour', how would I apply the causatives from this lesson?
You would use laten, because imitating is an active, voluntary action carried out by an agent: Het algoritme laat mensen gedrag imiteren. You only use doen for involuntary reactions, usually related to feelings or thoughts (e.g., Het algoritme doet me schrikken - The algorithm makes me startle).
Is the noun gedrag connected to a specific verb?
Yes, it is the noun form of the reflexive verb zich gedragen (to behave oneself). For example, if you wanted to describe the algorithm's actions directly, you could say Het algoritme gedraagt zich menselijk (The algorithm behaves human-like).
What is the plural of het algoritme?
