Why does ander have an -e at the end here (andere)?
When an adjective comes directly before a noun, it usually gets an -e at the end. Because studenten is a plural noun, we use the article de, and adjectives following de always take this -e ending.
What is the difference between thuis and huis?
Huis means the physical building (a house). Thuis is an adverb that means 'at home'. You use thuis to talk about the location of being at your own place.
Why isn't there a word for 'at' before thuis?
The word thuis actually comes from an old combination of te (at) and huis (house). Since the concept of 'at' is already built into the word itself, you don't need to add a preposition like bij or in.
Can I use thuis if the students are going home?
No, thuis only refers to being at home to show location. If there is movement towards home, you must use the phrase naar huis.
