Present tense plural (-en)

Plural Subjects: Wij, Jullie, and Zij

In Dutch, conjugating regular verbs for plural subjects is very simple. For wij (we), jullie (you, plural), and zij (they), you just use the full infinitive form of the verb.

The infinitive is the base form of the verb that you will find in a dictionary, and it almost always ends in -en.

We often cycle together.
Wij fietsen vaak samen.
You often play football.
Jullie voetballen vaak.

Remember that zij can mean either "she" or "they". When it means "they", it takes this plural infinitive form.

They walk on the weekend.
Zij wandelen in het weekend.

Shared Hobbies

Because the verb form is exactly the same across all plural pronouns, describing group activities and shared leisure time is straightforward.

They are watching a film now.
Zij kijken nu een film.
You are listening to the music now.
Jullie luisteren nu naar de muziek.

If you are talking about multiple groups doing different things, just keep using the infinitive for each plural subject.

They play football and we watch.
Zij voetballen en wij kijken.
