Questions & Answers about Ova dva grada su slična.
Why are we using ova and slična? Aren't cities (grad) masculine?
Yes, grad is a masculine noun. However, when you use the numbers 2, 3, or 4, the adjectives and pronouns describing the noun must change. For masculine and neuter nouns, this special form looks exactly like the neuter plural (ending in -a). That's why we say ova instead of ovi, and slična instead of slični.
Why is the word for city grada here instead of the plural gradovi?
This is also because of the rule for numbers 2, 3, and 4. After these numbers, masculine and neuter nouns take an ending that looks exactly like the genitive singular (which usually adds an -a to the base noun). So, grad becomes grada. You only use the standard plural (gradovi) for numbers five and up.
Why is it dva instead of dvije?
If the noun and adjectives take special forms, why is the verb su plural?
