The Car Wash

Removing Dirt and Conditions

A good car wash starts with the goal to remove (أزال) any dirt (وسخ) from your vehicle.

When you want to express a factual condition like "if [this happens], [that happens]," Arabic uses the word إذا (if). In these standard "if/then" statements, both the condition and the result often use past-tense verbs, even though they describe a general or future situation in English.

Let's look at the upholstery (فرش). Over time, it can show wear and tear. To say that something "became" a certain state or condition, you can use the verb صار.

Vacuuming and the Wash

Before water touches the outside, you might need to vacuum (شفط) the dust from the inside.

When washing the exterior, you will generate a lot of lather (رغوة). Another common verb meaning "became" is أصبح, which functions similarly to صار.

Rinsing and Drying

After the initial wash, the next step is to rinse (شطف) away the soap and dry (جفف) the car. Here is another example using إذا to set up a condition, this time paired with أصبح.

Scrubbing and Finishing Touches

For tough spots, you may have to scrub (فرك) the surfaces directly with a brush.

Finally, a premium wash is not complete without wax (شمع) and polish (ملمع). These give the car's frame its final protective shine.
