Project Management

Take charge of your workday and collaborate effectively by mastering the vocabulary of project management, from setting deadlines to analyzing progress.

Expressing "Both"

To emphasize that two people or things are involved, Arabic uses specific words for "both" that agree in gender and grammatical case with the noun they modify:

  • Masculine: كلاهما in the nominative case (for subjects) and كليهما in the accusative or genitive case (for objects).
  • Feminine: كلتاهما for the nominative and كلتيهما for the accusative or genitive.

Actions Already Completed

When giving project updates on a phase (مرحلة), you will often explain that someone had already initiated (بادر) a task while another action took place.

To express that an action "had already" occurred, combine the conjunction و (meaning "while" or "and" in this context) with the particle قد, followed directly by a past-tense verb.

Time and Purpose Conjunctions

Managing projects requires clearly communicating timelines, conditions, and goals. You will frequently use these conjunctions:

  • طالما : as long as
  • بينما : while
  • كي : in order to
  • حتى لا : so that... not

Use these conjunctions when discussing how to utilize (استغل) a mechanism (آلية), measuring the pace (وتيرة) of work, or ensuring that a deadline does not elapse (انقضى).
