Present tense negation (لا)

Signs and Rules

When navigating public spaces, you will often encounter a sign (لافتة) or a rule (قاعدة) to follow.

Negating the Present Tense

To say that someone "does not" or "is not doing" something, simply place the negative particle لا directly before the present tense verb. This is frequently used to state facts, express rules, or explain that an action is prohibited.

This structure remains exactly the same for any subject. Conjugate the verb normally and add لا in front of it.

Public Spaces and Parks

Use this straightforward structure to discuss what is and isn't allowed in places like a museum or a garden.
