peN-...-an: Formation and Allomorphy in Malaysian Malay

The circumfix written abstractly as peN-...-an forms many process, activity, result, and domain nouns in Malaysian Malay. The capital N is not a letter to type: it represents a nasal whose surface realization responds to the beginning of the base. Thus bangun produces pembangunan, while ajar produces pengajaran.
