Something that many may find hard to learn in the language are the 5 persons. In most languages, such as English, there are 3 persons (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). However, in TingLing, there are formal and okan persons. If you wanted to call a person “dumb”, “crazy”, or another negative trait, you would use the 3rd okan. If you are talking to somebody that is older than you, such as your grandmother, you would use 2nd formal.

Masculine nouns are used to indicate that the person you are referring to is a man. Otherwise, you are saying that they are a woman. If you are a man, you are “ong”. If you are a woman, you are “on”.

If something has no gender, it is masculine by default

It is advised that you take a lesson at least 3 times if you need to before moving onto the next to assure that you don't miss anything when moving through lessons
