Generic conditionals

In generic conditionals, we talk about characteristics or qualities of a specific group of entities. Let's see some examples:

Kaplanlar tehlikede hissederlerse saldırırlar.	If tigers feel they're in danger, they attack.
İnsanlar çok yorucu işlerde çalışırlarsa mutsuz olurlar.	If people work in very tiring jobs, they will be unhappy.
Sebzeler buzdolabında saklanmazsa daha çabuk bozulur.	If vegetables are not stored in the fridge they go bad more quickly.

As you can see we mostly use aorist in the main clause.

Habitual conditionals

In habitual conditionals we talk about the habits or regularities of individual people or certain events.

Eve geç gelirsem babam çok kızıyor.	If I come home too late my dad gets very angry.
Canım çekerse mola verip sigara içerim.	If I feel like it, I take a break and smoke.
Müzik odası boş olursa her sabah alıştırma yapıyor.	If the music room is empty he practices every morning.

That covers the aorist plus conditional copula structures.

We also make conditional sentences with var, yok, and 'to be'. When making conditional sentences, you can add an auxiliary 'ol' and attach the suffixes there. Let's see:

Yemek sıcak olursa yiyelim.	If the food will be warm let's eat it.
Alkol varsa gelirim.	If there's alcohol I will come.
Zor değilse bütün alıştırmaları yaparlar.	If they are not hard they do all the exercises.
