Lesson 121: The obligation and necessity suffix

In this lesson, you will learn about the obligation suffix -mElİ. This suffix is generally translated as must or should. It is used to convey (surprise suprise) necessity or obligation. It can also convey the meaning of how things generally should be done.

Obligation and necessity Singular Plural
First person git-mElİ-y-İm git-mElİ-y-İz
Second person git-mElİ-sİn git-mElİ-sİnİz
Third person git-mElİ git-mElİ-lEr

Translation: I/you/we/he/she/it/they should go.

This suffix can combine with other tenses, which will be explained in later lessons.
