Questions & Answers about Sürekli çalışma mecburiyeti kaçma eğilimi yaratıyor.
Why do we use çalışma and kaçma here instead of the full infinitives çalışmak and kaçmak?
When pairing an unfulfilled action with an abstract noun like mecburiyet (obligation) or eğilim (tendency), we use the short verbal noun ending in -mA. We then link them using a noun compound structure. You cannot use the full -mAk infinitive to build these specific possessive compounds.
What is the grammatical role of the -i on mecburiyeti and eğilimi?
It is the third-person possessive suffix used to form a noun compound. To link the verbal noun çalışma with mecburiyet, the second word needs this suffix, literally forming the obligation of working.
Does sürekli describe the obligation or the working?
It describes the working. Even though çalışma acts as a noun here, verbal nouns keep their verb-like ability to be modified by adverbs. Sürekli tells us the working is continuous, acting as a modifier for the verbal noun before it connects to the abstract noun.
Why does kaçma eğilimi lack an accusative case marker before yaratıyor?
Because it acts as an indefinite direct object. The sentence states that the obligation creates a tendency to escape in general, rather than a specific known tendency. Indefinite direct objects stay in their bare form without an accusative suffix and sit directly next to the verb.
