Questions & Answers about Sabah otelden ayrılacağım.
Why is there a ğ in ayrılacağım if the future suffix is -acak?
The root is ayrıl- (to leave) and it takes the future suffix -acak. However, when we add the 'I' personal ending -ım, the k gets sandwiched between two vowels (the a and the ı). When this happens, the k softens into a ğ.
Why doesn't the future tense suffix have a y at the beginning here?
You only need the buffer y (making it -yacak or -yecek) when the verb root ends in a vowel. Since ayrıl- ends in a consonant (l), we attach -acak directly to it.
Why does the sentence use otelden (from the hotel) instead of just the hotel?
In English, we 'leave a place.' But in Turkish, the verb ayrılmak (to leave, to depart) requires the ablative case, which means the 'from' ending (-den or -dan). You are literally saying that you will depart from the hotel.
Why doesn't sabah have a suffix to mean 'in the morning'?
