Distributing actions (บ้างก็... บ้างก็...)

When looking out over a bustling crowd at a temple festival, you will often want to describe the different activities going on at the same time.

Distributing Actions with บ้างก็... บ้างก็...

To say that different members of a group are engaged in different activities—like "some do this, and some do that"—Thai uses the correlative structure บ้างก็... บ้างก็....

Place the overall subject at the beginning of the sentence, followed by the first action and then the second action, each introduced by บ้างก็.

Festival Activities

Temple festivals offer a wide variety of activities. You might see people playing สอยดาว (a traditional lucky draw where prizes hang from a tree) or buying snacks like สายไหม (cotton candy). The บ้างก็... บ้างก็... pattern is perfect for capturing this lively variety.

Expressing Enjoyment

To express how much fun everyone is having, use the verb เพลิดเพลิน (to enjoy). To specify what someone is enjoying, follow it with the preposition กับ (with).
