Continuous States with อยู่

To indicate an ongoing action or lingering physical state (like standing or smiling), use the continuous marker อยู่. Place it immediately after the main verb.

Adding Objects

When a verb takes an object, อยู่ is placed after the object.

States and Locations

To specify where a continuous state happens, place อยู่ directly before the location phrase.

Maintaining Posture or Focus

อยู่ is also used to describe maintained body postures (like leaning or bending down) or sustained attention (like staring). The same word order rules apply.
