Actions in advance (ล่วงหน้า)

Doing Things in Advance with ล่วงหน้า

To describe taking proactive steps, Thai uses the temporal modifier ล่วงหน้า (in advance / ahead of time).

It is placed at the very end of the action verb phrase or clause.

Preparing for Off-Grid Living

When preparing for harsh seasons, ล่วงหน้า emphasizes the preparatory nature of these vital tasks.

Asking "Why"

To ask for the reasoning behind a preparation, place ทำไมถึง (why) at the beginning of the clause, leaving ล่วงหน้า anchored at the end.

Deadlines and Causes

When establishing a future deadline, use the กว่าจะ...ก็...แล้ว (by the time... already) framework. Placing ล่วงหน้า right before แล้ว highlights that the proactive preparations will be safely completed before the deadline hits.

You can also use the เพราะ...จึง (because... therefore) structure to explain the direct cause for your advance tasks.
