Questions & Answers about Företaget ska producera billiga varor.
How would I use these words to say "The cheaper the goods, the more the company will produce"?
You would say: Ju billigare varorna är, desto mer ska företaget producera. The ju part is a subordinate clause, so the subject and verb follow normally. The desto part is the main clause, so it follows the V2 (verb-second) rule, meaning the verb ska comes immediately after the comparative phrase desto mer.
Why use ska here instead of kommer att for the future tense?
Ska is used when there is a clear intention, plan, or determination to do something. Since the company has actively decided to produce these goods, ska is the perfect fit. You typically use kommer att for predictions or events outside the subject's direct control.
Why does billiga have an -a at the end?
It gets an -a because it is modifying a plural noun (varor, meaning goods). In Swedish, adjectives always take an -a ending when they describe plural nouns.
What is the singular form of varor?
The singular is en vara (an item, product, or good). Since it is an en-word that ends in -a, it forms its plural by changing the -a to -or.
