Which and What: Vilken, Vilket, and Vilka

To ask "which" or "what" about a specific noun, you must use a question word that matches the noun's gender and number.

• Use vilken for singular en-words.
• Use vilket for singular ett-words.
• Use vilka for all plural words.

Just like with other question words, Swedish follows the V2 (verb-second) rule. The verb comes immediately after the entire question phrase (such as vilken färg or vilket hus), followed by the subject if the question phrase isn't the subject itself.

Adjectives: Colors and "Right"

This lesson also introduces the word rätt (right/correct) and a few colors: svart (black), vit (white), and blå (blue).

Notice how these adjectives must also agree with the gender and number of the noun they describe. For example, svart becomes svarta when describing plural nouns.
