Something New: Adjectives with Något
To describe "something" (något) in Swedish, use the neuter form of the adjective, which usually means adding a -t. Just like in English, the adjective comes directly after the pronoun.
| The diver is looking for something unique in the wreck. | Dykaren letar efter något unikt i vraket. |
| The creature in the deep is something scary. | Varelsen i djupet är något läskigt. |
Inget (Nothing) and Allt (Everything)
The same neuter agreement rule applies to other indefinite pronouns like inget (nothing) and allt (everything).
| Is there nothing interesting in the submarine? | Finns det inget intressant i ubåten? |
| We saw nothing strange in the deep. | Vi såg inget konstigt i djupet. |
| We want to explore everything unknown in the deep. | Vi vill utforska allt okänt i djupet. |
Adjectives Ending in -ande or -ende
Adjectives ending in -ande or -ende are invariable. They never change form, so they don't take a -t, even with neuter pronouns.
| There is something exciting in the wreck. | Det finns något spännande i vraket. |
