Questions & Answers about Тебе нужно повторять правила, чтобы не забывать даже простых вещей.
How does the particle даже work here, and where should it go in the sentence?
Даже means "even" and is used to emphasize something surprising or extreme. In Russian, you place даже directly before the word or phrase it emphasizes. Here, it sits right in front of простых вещей to highlight that forgetting basic things is exactly what you want to avoid.
Why is the object простых вещей in the genitive case instead of the accusative?
This is an example of the genitive of negation. When an action is negated with не, like не забывать, the direct object is often put in the genitive case instead of the accusative. This happens frequently with abstract concepts or to imply "any" simple things.
Why are the verbs повторять and забывать both in the imperfective aspect?
The sentence is talking about a general, ongoing habit. You need to regularly review (повторять) so that you consistently do not forget (не забывать). If this were about studying for one specific test tomorrow, you would use perfective verbs instead.
As a quick review, why does the sentence start with the dative pronoun Тебе instead of Ты?
The word нужно means "it is necessary" and is an impersonal word. In Russian, the person who experiences the need or obligation must be in the dative case. The structure literally translates to "To you it is necessary to review the rules."
