Or, also, too (или, тоже, также)

Или — Or

Или offers a choice between two things, exactly like English or:

Чай или кофе? — Tea or coffee? Мы читаем дома или в парке. — We read at home or in the park.

Doubled — или ..., или ... — it insists that only one option can win: или сейчас, или никогда (either now or never).

Тоже — Also, Too

Тоже says that what is true of one is true of another. It stands right after the thing that is 'also':

Я студент. Он *тоже студент.* — I am a student. He is also a student.

You have been meeting тоже since the very first lessons — now you know its rule: whatever comes before тоже is what is being added.

Mom is at home, and dad is also at home.
Мама дома, и папа тоже дома.

Также — The Formal Also

Также means the same as тоже but belongs to written and formal Russian — reports, announcements, textbooks. In everyday speech, prefer тоже; when you read a newspaper, expect также.
