Declining the reflexive possessive (свой)

The reflexive possessive pronoun свой translates to "one's own" (my own, your own, his own) and always refers back to the subject of the sentence. It declines exactly like мой and твой.

Prepositional Case

Use своём, своей, and своих when talking about your own space, boundaries, or locations.

Dative Case

Use the Dative forms своему, своей, and своим when directing actions toward someone.

Genitive Case

The Genitive forms often follow prepositions like без (without) or для (for). Note that the masculine/neuter form своего is pronounced with a "v" sound (свое[в]о).

Instrumental Case
