In Russian, the quantifiers сколько (how many), столько (so many), and несколько (several) decline like plural adjectives in oblique cases (cases other than the Nominative or inanimate Accusative).
When these quantifiers are in the Nominative or inanimate Accusative, the noun that follows them must be in the Genitive plural. However, in all oblique cases, the quantifier and the noun agree in case, just like an adjective and a noun.
Notice that the stress always remains on the same syllable as in the base form.

Genitive Case
Used after Genitive prepositions (like у) or to show possession. Both the quantifier and the noun take the Genitive plural.

Prepositional Case
Shares the -их ending. Commonly used after prepositions like о (about) or в (in).
| How many new trends did this sociologist talk about? | О скольких новых тенденциях рассказал этот социолог? |
| I have never heard about so many interesting categories. | Я никогда не слышал о стольких интересных категориях. |
Dative Case
Takes the -им ending. Used for indirect objects or with Dative-triggering verbs and expressions.
| How many sociologists must we send this data to? | Скольким социологам мы должны отправить эти данные? |
| This trend shows how many respondents need a survey. | Эта тенденция показывает, скольким респондентам нужен опрос. |
Instrumental Case
Takes the -ими ending. Frequently used with the preposition с (with).
| I am analyzing a table with several important categories. | Я анализирую таблицу с несколькими важными категориями. |
| How many tables did you work with to gather these statistics? | Со сколькими таблицами вы работали, чтобы собрать эту статистику? |
