Avionul pleacă devreme dimineața.

From Lesson 65:Getting Around·Romanian

Questions & Answers about Avionul pleacă devreme dimineața.

Why is "the airplane" written as one word, Avionul?
In Romanian, the word for "the" is attached to the end of the noun instead of being a separate word in front of it. The base word is avion (airplane). By adding the ending -ul, it becomes Avionul (the airplane).
Which verb does pleacă come from?
It comes from the verb a pleca (to leave). In Romanian, vowels inside a word often change when conjugated. Here, the e in the base verb changes to ea for the "he/she/it" form, giving us pleacă.
Why is there no word for "in" before dimineața?
In Romanian, you don't always need a preposition like "în" (in) for parts of the day. Simply adding the "the" ending to dimineață (morning) to make dimineața (the morning) is enough to mean "in the morning" when describing when an action happens.
The word devreme (early) looks a lot like vreme (weather). Are they connected?
Yes! The word vreme can mean "time" as well as "weather". Devreme literally comes from combining "de" and "vreme" (of time), which is how Romanians say "early".
