Virar à esquerda (as direções)

Left and Right

A esquerda and a direita are the sides as nouns — à esquerda (on/to the left), à direita (on/to the right), the forms every set of directions runs on. The adjective esquerdo/esquerda agrees with its noun: o pé esquerdo, a mão esquerda.

The Verb of Corners

Virar is to turn: vira à direita, o carro virou na esquina. With -se it is to turn around: ele virou-se para mim.
