Quantifiers with nouns

When describing verbs or adjectives, muito and pouco never change. But when used with nouns to express quantities like "many", "much", "few", or "little", they must match the noun's gender and number.

Plural nouns (Many and Few)

Use the plural forms muitos/muitas (many) and poucos/poucas (few) for countable things. Place the quantifier directly before the noun.

There are many people in the restaurant.
Há muitas pessoas no restaurante.
Few people work here.
Poucas pessoas trabalham aqui.
Our students have many questions.
Os nossos alunos têm muitas perguntas.

Singular nouns (A lot of and Little)

Use the singular forms muito/muita (a lot of / much) and pouco/pouca (little) for uncountable things like substances or concepts.

Can you eat a lot of sugar?
Podes comer muito açúcar?
Your father cooks with little salt.
O teu pai cozinha com pouco sal.
You eat a lot of fruit.
Você come muita fruta.
We have little luck.
Nós temos pouca sorte.
