The Adjectives That Refuse to Agree

The A1 rule — -o for him, -a for her — has a large quiet exception: adjectives ending in -e or a consonant have ONE form for both genders:

um homem jovemuma mulher jovem
um plano simplesuma ideia simples
um lugar distanteuma cidade distante
um cliente regularuma vida regular

They still take -s in the plural (jovens, regulares) — only gender is frozen. giro, querido and the -o crowd agree as usual.
