O céu is the sky, and what fills it decides your day: a nuvem (cloud) and, on the coast in the morning, o nevoeiro (fog) — a fixture of Portuguese Atlantic weather that burns off by lunch.

Saying How It Feels
Weather adjectives ride on estar:

| fresco | cool, fresh |
O calor is the heat itself — Está calor! is how you complain about it, with no article, and ter calor is how YOU feel it. O ar is the air (ao ar livre comes later; for now, o ar do mar é fresco).
| The air at the beach is cool. | O ar da praia é fresco. |
