The Future Perfect Subjunctive (Futuro Composto do Conjuntivo)

In space exploration, sequences of events are critical. When you want to talk about a condition that will have been completed in the future before another future action can take place, you use the Future Perfect Subjunctive (Futuro Composto do Conjuntivo).

This tense frequently appears after time conjunctions like quando (when), assim que (as soon as), and logo que (as soon as) when referring to future events.

How to Form It

The Future Perfect Subjunctive is a compound tense. You form it by taking the Future Subjunctive of the auxiliary verb ter and adding the Past Participle of the main action verb.

Notice how the action tivermos lançado (will have launched) must be completed before the main action celebraremos (we will celebrate) happens.

Using "Quando" (When)

The most common trigger for this tense is the word quando referring to a future condition.

Using "Assim que" and "Logo que" (As soon as)

To emphasize that the second action will happen immediately after the first one is completed, use assim que or logo que.
