Why does the word for scientists end in -ów here?
The preposition według (according to) always requires the Genitive case. Since we are talking about plural scientists, the base word naukowiec takes the Genitive plural ending -ów to become naukowców.
If the dictionary form is naukowiec, why isn't the Genitive plural naukowieców?
