Jaki in every case
jaki declines exactly like an adjective — so every case you can put an adjective in, you can ask about:
| What country are you from? | Z jakiego kraju jesteś? |
| What music are you talking about? | O jakiej muzyce rozmawiacie? |
| What hotel are you staying in? | W jakim hotelu mieszkacie? |
Relative jaki — the quality twin of który
You just met który for picking out WHICH one. Jaki relates WHAT KIND: it answers a taki (or any quality word) in the main clause.
| It was the kind of day that everyone remembers. | To był taki dzień, jaki wszyscy pamiętają. |
| I made the kind of soup that my grandmother used to make. | Zrobiłam taką zupę, jaką robiła moja babcia. |
Like an adjective, relative jaki takes the case of its OWN clause: taką zupę, jaką… (both Accusative here, each from its own verb).
Jaki ..., taki ...
The correlative pair makes proverbs and comparisons:
