Emphasizing Commands
When you want to add immediate urgency, impatience, or exasperation to an instruction, Polish uses the emphatic particles -że and -ż. These attach directly to the end of a command (the imperative form of the verb).
Add -że if the verb ends in a consonant (like most singular commands), and -ż if it ends in a vowel (like plural commands). This instantly transforms a simple request into a forceful "do it already!".

| This is the worst of our arguments, stop it! | To najgorsza z naszych awantur, skończże! |
Arguments and Frustration
Because these particles carry a sense of impatience, you will hear them frequently during arguments (awantury) or when someone's behavior is irritating.
| Do listen to me, this irritates me very much! | Posłuchajże mnie, to mnie bardzo irytuje! |
| Apologize to me immediately and let go of my hand! | Przeprośże mnie natychmiast i puść moją rękę! |
Rushing and Reflexive Verbs
With reflexive verbs, the particle attaches strictly to the verb itself, and the reflexive pronoun się follows immediately after. You will use this pattern often when running late and needing someone to get moving.
| Hurry up, we must finally leave the house! | Pospieszże się, musimy nareszcie wyjść z domu! |
| Get moving, I beg you, because we will be late for the train! | Ruszże się, błagam, bo spóźnimy się na pociąg! |
