The colour set

Polish colour words are ordinary adjectives: they agree with their noun in gender, number and case, exactly like the adjectives you already know.

white

biały white, red

czerwony red, green

zielony green, blue

niebieski blue, yellow

żółty yellow, pink

różowy pink, orange (colour)

pomarańczowy orange, brown

brązowy brown, grey

szary grey, purple

fioletowy purple.

Two words for blue

blue

niebieski is everyday blue. light blue, sky blue

błękitny is light, sky-like blue — common in descriptions of sky and sea. When in doubt, say niebieski.
