Usages of 〜areru

がくせい は せんせい に められた。gakusei wa sensei ni homerareta.
The student was praised by the teacher.
かのじょ は どろぼう に さい を ぬすまれた。kanojo wa dorobou ni saifu o nusumareta.
She had her wallet stolen by a thief.
その しゃしん は おおく の ひと に られました。sono shashin wa ooku no hito ni miraremashita.
That photo was seen by many people.
さい が ぬすまれました。saifu ga nusumaremashita.
The wallet was stolen.
がみ が おくられました。tegami ga okuraremashita.
The letter was sent.
ドア が けられました。doa ga akeraremashita.
The door was opened.
