First and second-person direct object pronouns (mi, ti, ci, vi)

To talk about actions happening directly to yourself or the person you are speaking to, use the first and second-person direct object pronouns. These pronouns go immediately before the conjugated verb.

Mi and Ti (Singular)

Use mi for "me" and ti for "you" (informal singular).

Marco kisses me.
Marco mi bacia.
The dog really loves you.
Il cane ti ama veramente.

In negative sentences, place the pronoun directly between non and the verb.

You never notice me in the shop.
Non mi noti mai nel negozio.

Ci and Vi (Plural)

Use ci for "us" and vi for "you all" (informal plural).

My mother hugs us in the park.
Mia madre ci abbraccia nel parco.
The teacher notices you all in the group.
L'insegnante vi nota nel gruppo.

These pronouns stay in the same preverbal position in questions.
