### Expressing readiness and willingness

Adjectives that express readiness or an inclination to take action—like being ready (**pronto**) or willing (**disposto**)—connect to the following infinitive using the preposition **a**.

Note that if the infinitive verb begins with a vowel, like *apparecchiare* (to set the table), the preposition often becomes **ad** to make the phrase flow more smoothly.

- *disposto* + *a* + *versare* = willing to pour
- *pronto* + *ad* + *apparecchiare* = ready to set the table
