Questions & Answers about Far þangað!
How do you form the command far from the verb fara?
To make a command for one person (the singular imperative), you usually take the dictionary form of the verb, which ends in -a, and simply drop that last letter. So, fara (to go) becomes the command far (go!).
I often see "go" written as farðu. Why is it just far here?
Why use þangað for "there" instead of the word þar?
Icelandic makes a strict difference between location and motion. You use þar when someone or something is resting in a location (like "I am there"). You use þangað when there is movement towards a destination (like "Go there!"). Because this sentence uses an action verb that involves traveling to a new place, þangað is the right choice.
