Learn Icelandic: Úrslitaleikurinn hefst eftir hálfan klukkutíma.

In Icelandic, to say an event will happen 'in' a certain amount of future time, we use the preposition eftir (which usually translates to 'after'). When used this way as a future time anchor, it is always followed by the accusative case. So, eftir hálfan klukkutíma literally translates to 'after half an hour,' which is the natural way to express 'in half an hour' in Icelandic.

Why do we use the forms hálfan and klukkutíma instead of their dictionary forms?

The preposition eftir forces the time duration that follows it into the accusative case. Since the base word klukkutími (hour) is a masculine noun, its accusative form is klukkutíma. The adjective hálfur (half) must agree with the noun in gender and case, so it takes the masculine accusative form hálfan.

Why does the verb hefst end in '-st'?

This is the middle voice form of the verb hefja (to begin or raise). While you use the standard form hefja when someone actively starts an action, you use the middle voice hefst when an event just 'begins' on its own without a direct object, which perfectly fits a scheduled event like a match.

What are the parts that make up the word Úrslitaleikurinn?

It is a compound noun built from úrslit (results or finals) and leikur (game or match). The -inn at the very end is the attached definite article, changing the meaning from 'a final match' to 'the final match'.
