At the counter

þjónustufulltrúinn is the customer-service representative, afgreiðslukonan the shop assistant. When the service is good you can hrósa (+ dative) — to praise: I praised the customer service representative for the help.

Ég hrósaði þjónustufulltrúanum fyrir hjálpina. You already know kvarta for the opposite direction.

Money words

word	meaning
frír	free (of charge)
lánið	the loan
til baka	back (change, returning)
númerið	the number

til baka covers both directions of returning: I got a hundred krónur back.

Ég fékk hundrað krónur til baka. and koma til baka, to come back. lánið is what the bank gives you for blokkin (the block of flats) — or the garden shed, skúrinn.
