Questions & Answers about munjangeul sseoyo.
Why is 을 used after 문장 in 문장을 써요?
을/를 is the Korean object particle. You attach 을 to a noun ending in a consonant (and 를 to one ending in a vowel) to mark it as the direct object. 문장 ends with the consonant ㄴ, so it takes 을, giving 문장을.
Why is the verb form 써요 and not 쓰어요?
쓰다 is a ㅅ-irregular verb. When you conjugate it before a vowel, the ㅅ drops. So 쓰 + 어요 becomes 써요.
Can 문장을 써요 function as a request rather than just a statement?
Yes. Even though it’s technically a polite declarative ending, in many contexts it carries an imperative sense: “Please write a sentence.”
How would you make it more polite or formal?
Use the -세요 ending for a higher level of politeness: 문장을 쓰세요 (“Please write a sentence.” in a more formal/polite register).
Why is there no subject in 문장을 써요?
