Questions & Answers about المعجب هنا.
In Modern Standard Arabic, the present-tense verb to be is usually not stated in simple sentences like this.
So Arabic says:
المعجب هنا
literally: the admirer / admired one / impressive one here
but the natural English meaning includes is: ... is here.
If you wanted a past or future meaning, Arabic would usually add a verb:
كان المعجب هنا = The ... was here
سيكون المعجب هنا = The ... will be here
It is a nominal sentence (a sentence built around a noun, not a finite verb).
A simple way to analyze it is:
- المعجب = the subject
- هنا = the predicate, giving the location
In traditional Arabic grammar, these are called:
- مبتدأ = the thing being talked about
- خبر = what is said about it
So the structure is basically:
[subject] + [where it is]
