Note
der Schlüssel -the key
das Ticket - the ticket
O yeah, it seems we have borrowed this word from English... You need to understand our dilemma. Despite our immense vocabulary and additional vocabulary building features we didn't have an adequate word for this. XD.
Our own word ' Eintrittskarte' has its limits. Let's dissect it. die Karte is a card, any squared piece of paper. So on its own it wouldn't be enough.
So we added Eingang(s)- (entrance) to it which makes it a ticket to enter a building with a door. That works for a museum, a cinema, the zoo (a gate is enough) but it won't work for a bus, train or airplane...
So we added Fahr- (from the verb 'fahren' (to ride/drive)) to it. That covers the bus, train, tram, subway, but NOT the plane....
So we finally took over Flugticket. (der Flug - (the flight)).
Now coming to a story like Willy Wonka and the '5 golden tickets' to enter his factory.... We could of course say '5 goldene Eintrittskarten', but first of all it is too long of a word and secondly it sounds like something you have paid for. How can we take off the price? There are Freikarten (free entrances) in German, but this word sounds a bit more abstract. Of course you would have to have a printed ticket or at least a QR code on your phone, but the main feature of a 'free entrance' is that it is free, not that it is blue, red ,big, small... it sounds off to add 'golden' to 'Freikarte' . We have one last one ' das Los' (the lottery ticket). But here again we don't know if they are winning or not. Willy Wonka's golden tickets were already the winning lots.
So I have to admit, I can't come up with a German word. We have to use das Ticket (die 5 goldenen Tickets)
