Rooms and furniture

The rooms L24 did not name

die Toilette, -ntoilet
die Dusche, -nshower
der Keller, -cellar, basement
der Stock (Sg.)floor, storey
The shower is in the bathroom.
Die Dusche ist im Bad.

der Stock counts floors

German counts storeys ABOVE the ground floor, so der erste Stock is what English calls the first floor only in Britain — an American second floor. The ground floor itself is not a Stock at all.

Wir wohnen im zweiten Stock.

Be careful with the plural: floors are Stockwerke, while die Stöcke means walking sticks.

die Möbel is always plural

die Möbel is the collective word for furniture, and like die Eltern and die Großeltern it has no everyday singular. A single item is ein Möbelstück.

Die Möbel stehen im Wohnzimmer.

The furniture is in the living room.
Die Möbel stehen im Wohnzimmer.

baden and duschen

baden is to take a bath, duschen (L65) is to take a shower, and baden also does the work of English to swim at a lake or the sea: Hier darf man nicht baden.
