Expressing conditions with "solange"
When you want to set a condition or limit based on time, use the conjunction solange (as long as). It is especially useful for discussing house rules and agreements with roommates.
Just like dass or weil, solange is a subordinating conjunction. It pushes the conjugated verb to the very end of its clause.

Starting a sentence with "solange"
You can also start the sentence with the solange clause to emphasize the condition.
When the dependent clause comes first, it takes up the first position in the sentence. The main clause must start immediately with its verb to keep it in the mandatory second position. This creates the familiar "verb, comma, verb" pattern.
