Modified indefinite pronouns (quelque chose de beau)

When creating or customizing characters in video games, you will often need to describe the specific traits you are looking for.

I know this game and I know how to customize the avatar.
Je connais ce jeu et je sais comment personnaliser l'avatar.

Describing "Something" and "Nothing"

In English, we place adjectives directly after indefinite pronouns (like "something majestic" or "nothing epic"). In French, when you want to add an adjective to quelque chose (something) or rien (nothing), you must insert de (or d' before a vowel) between the pronoun and the adjective.

Crucially, the adjective that follows is always invariable, meaning it stays in its default masculine singular form.

For my avatar, I am looking for something majestic.
Pour mon avatar, je cherche quelque chose de majestueux.
He needs something sturdy like the iron armor.
Il a besoin de quelque chose de robuste comme l'armure de fer.
There is nothing epic without a beautiful armor.
Il n'y a rien d'épique sans une belle armure.

Describing "Someone" and "No one"

The exact same rule applies when talking about people using quelqu'un (someone) or personne (no one). Just add de (or d') followed by the masculine singular adjective.

I want someone sturdy in my team.
Je veux quelqu'un de robuste dans mon équipe.
There is no one sturdy in this game.
Il n'y a personne de robuste dans ce jeu.
This character has a scar; he is someone majestic.
Ce personnage a une cicatrice ; c'est quelqu'un de majestueux.
