Before we look at some new verbs, let's learn a few essential words for a modern workspace setup, including un clavier (a keyboard), une souris (a mouse), and un écran (a screen).
The verb mettre
The verb mettre is a versatile and highly common irregular -re verb. It means "to put" or "to place." Notice that in the singular forms, it drops the second t of the stem. In the third-person singular (il / elle / on), it does not take an extra ending after the t.

The verb écrire
The verb écrire (to write) is another important irregular -re verb. For all of its plural forms, it adds a v to the stem.

While écrire covers writing generally, the regular -er verb taper specifically means "to type."

Drafting and Editing
When working on a document, you will often start with un brouillon (a draft).

As you edit un paragraphe (a paragraph) or a larger text, you will use regular -er verbs like effacer (to erase), corriger (to correct), and enregistrer (to save).
