Questions & Answers about Kertoisitko sinä kaiken rehellisesti?
Why does kertoisitko keep the strong "rt" instead of changing to "rr" like in the present tense kerrot?
This is a special rule for the conditional mood! The conditional marker -isi- always attaches to the strong grade of the verb stem. Normally, adding a personal ending like -t closes the syllable and triggers the weak grade. But in the conditional, that weakening doesn't happen, so it stays kertoisit. We then just add -ko to make it a question.
What exactly is happening at the end of kertoisitko?
We are stacking three different suffixes onto the verb stem kerto-. First is the conditional marker -isi- (would), next is the personal ending -t (you), and finally the question particle -ko turns the whole thing into a yes/no question.
Why is the word for "everything" in the form kaiken instead of its base form kaikki?
kaiken is the object of the verb. Because you are talking about telling absolutely everything (a complete action), the object needs to be a total object. For singular words like this, the total object takes the -n ending.
How is the word rehellisesti (honestly) formed?
It comes from the adjective rehellinen (honest). Words ending in -nen have a stem ending in -se-. To make it an adverb, you take that stem (rehellise-) and add the standard Finnish adverb ending -sti.
